History
Version 4.04
- Especially for Benchtest.com
there now is the option to lower interval log to 1/10 of
a minute (6 seconds)
Version 4.03
- Added the option to turn of
the Resource checking (Windows 9X only), when this is on,
your system will not go into automatic standby mode.
Because of this when you run 4.03 1st time it will be
off, if you want to keep using it please turn it on on
the Resource tab.
- Fixed the error some of you
had where the log files where created in the root or in
C:\windows
- Added code for the GL518SM
chip
- Added code for the GL520SM
chip, this is not fully tested but should work
- Added support for the
W83781D, W83782D and W83783S via the SMBus
- Option to select the Charset
in the language file, this means that languages like
russian will appear okay in MBM. For info check out the
English language file
- Option to select how the
voltage in the voltage group should be displayed, so
either Core Voltage or Voltage Core, again this is to
make it more compatible with other languages then
english. For info check out the English language file
- Added the graph option as
display, personaly I think it's plain ugly, but will do
for now
- System Info will show a bit
more info on the chip found
- Russian and Chinese
Traditional added as language files
- Hopefully fixed the date
& time problem, it should show date and time in the
format of your country as set in the regional settings of
your windows control panel.
- Many thanks go to Jonathan
Teh for his help on the SMBus
Version 4.02
- Fixed a fault I made in the
Fan3 division which had big impact on some PC's (beeping
and reseting), sorry about that.
- A total re-desing of the
MBM.DLL, this means that any version lower CPUIDle 5.5
beta - 4 will no longer work with MBM. MBM itself will
still work with any CPUIdle (launching & closing of
CPUIdle). I know some of you won't like this but it was
needed, the MBM.DLL was getting a mess to maintain.
- some small visual fixes
Version 4.01
- MBM should find the new
CPUIdle 5.5 correctly on all machines in the registry
(the location of this key got changed)
- As requested by several,
there are some changes to the voltage alarm:
- You can set voltage
alarm for each voltage, default values are:
- Core 0: 5%
- Core 1: 5%
- +3.3: 5%
- +5: 10%
- -5: 10%
- +12: 10%
- -12: 10%
- You can turn the
alarm on/off per voltage
- You can monitor both
the Core voltages if needed
- Fixed crash on FanTemp
calibration
- Hopefully fixed the bad
layout with the large font option of windows (I trully
hate that option <g>)
- Text will align up better in
all languages
- Option to change VUmeters
into Digital meters
- Removed most of the CPU info
for combatibily reasons
- Spanish language file
included
Version 4.0
- In the system tray MBM will
use around 1% resources, this is 90% less
then 3.x
- Full support for Intel P2/3's
with Thermal diode inside the CPU on board that have a
W83782D or W83783S chip connected to an Intel CPU with
diode and. GigaByte GA6-BXE is a good example.
- Added support for TempFan, a
device that can change your Fan port to a temperature
port, great for all users of an Abit BH6, BX6 or Asus
P2L97 who only have a motherboard sensor. As I write this
the device is not yet avaible for the big public but
should be soon. Check out the FanTemp FAQ on my page.
- Added support for several
languages. As I write this English, Dutch, Swedish,
Italian and French is included, other language will
probably follow later as small downloads of about 8K.
- E-mail support, MBM can send
you an e-mail on an alarm or at set intervals, either via
SMTP or MAPI, using RAS (your dial-up network) or trying
to send it via LAN
- Changed tab setup, no more
pull down boxes but buttons instead.
- Added a medium view, to view
VUMeters, Voltages and Fans
- 9X users can place their
resources under the VUMeters
- All log files can be saved as
CSV now
- Simplefied the Fan alarms
- More CPU info in the system
info section
- User can choose what tabs he
wants visible.
- Negative readouts from
Winbond chips can be turned on
- Play wave on CPUIdle launch
- Fixed wave bug that meant
that some soundcards where unusable after MBM played a
wave until you closed MBM
- Many other small changes,
some you might not even like <g>
Version 3.84 & Lite
2.3
- Added support Intel Pentium
II/III that have a therminal diode. This only works if:
- you have such a CPU
- you have either a
Winbond W83782D or a Winbond W83783S on your
board
- the board supports
this, this means that even if you have the above,
if the board does not have a connection from the
diode to the chip it won't work.
- You now have the option to
re-oder the icons after X seconds...handy when you run
MBM on startup and the icons are in the wrong order in
your system tray
- Changed the overal Ignore Fan
Alarm X times to Ignore Fan Alarms X seconds and you can
do this per fan.
Version 3.831 & Lite
2.2
Version 3.83 & Lite
2.2
- As some users requested you
can now place an alarm if your resources drop below a
certain level (9x only)
- Support for the new Winbond
chips W83782D and W83783S
Version 3.82 & Lite
2.1
- Added the function
"RestartLM78" which I had removed in 3.8, on
some machines the LM78/79 would not initializise without
this function
Version 3.81 & Lite
2.0
- Added support for ShutDown Now! so you have an option to turn your PC off
when a selected alarm goes off, please read the help file
about all the details
- Under General 2 you now have
the option to show the VUMeters horizontal instead of
vertical.
Version 3.8 & Lite 2.0
- Added support
for more LM75's this means I needed to change some layout
of MBM Full, like MBM Lite it now has listboxes where you
can select the sensor you want to readout.
- Because more
LM75's can be readout this means a whole bunch of new
motherboard will be compatible.
- To make it
all a bit more simple for other boards the Asus TX
specific compensation (intel, amd, cyrix) has been
removed and replaced with a simple compensation button
- The above
means that the "old" users that have an Asus TX
now have to select LM75 -2 for CPU readout and add their
compensation value on the compensation tab
- Moved the CSV
symbol from Log Tab to General 2 Tab
- Made some
internal changes to MBM Lite so it is easier to add more
sensor at a later date
- Renamed
SystemInfo.DLL to SysInf.DLL since on some machines the
long file name would cause troubles
- Updated the
help file........ hope I got it all
Version 3.75 & Lite
1.11
- Large font
issue with the Full version is fixed
- all sensors
can now have a negative compensation for those who can't
get the correct correct NTC compenent.
Version 3.74 & Lite
1.1
- Fixed a small problem with
Lite, ALT+TAB would make is show up even if in system
tray
- I have been asked for new
icons for the DLL files as I got messages that these
icons where similair to a virus, as soon as I find the
option to change DLL Icons in Delphi 4 I will..... just
can't find it <g>
- You can now enter the symbol
you want to use in the CSV file
- As requested there is no
longer a real limit on the Interval size, well the limit
is a MaxInt which stands for 2147483647, so that should
keep most of your happy
- I changed the InstallShield
project, you can now select 1 of 3 possible installs:
- Typical : Both MBM
3.74 and MBM Lite and Help Files
- Compact: Only MBM
3.74
- Custom: You can
select what you want installed
- There is 1 glitch in the
Install Shield project, it will always create a short cut
to the 3 main items (MBM Full, MBM Lite and Help Files)
even if you did not install all of them. There seems to
be no real fix of it except creating a small program that
would remove them after the install but this would make
the D/L bigger again...... if anybody has another idea
please let me know.
Version 3.73
- Changed the Fan Division, the
default settings should be fine with 90% of the users
- Moved the Splash screen into
the DLL, this way both MBM 3.73 and MBM Lite can use the
same.
- Added MBM Lite 1.0 Beta 2 to
the installation
Version 3.72
- After much pressure <g>
the Swap option is back, in a little bit diferent shape
since there are now more sensors to swap between, it can
be found in the Visual section under System Tray
- Moved the Show Temperature in
System Tray from General 1 to System Tray tab together
with the Swap Temperature in System Tray
- Fixed little bug when you
would 1st check the LM75
- Changed the Log Tab a little
bit, looks more open now
- Moved the Write Log files ?
options from the General 2 tab to the Log Tab
- You can now give each sensor
it's own color, this way it is much clearer which sensor
is displayed when/where
- Added a message for 1st time
users where a sensor recomendation is given depending on
the chipID
- Added the option to write the
Interval Log as a CSV file that can easly be opended
using Excel for instance.
- Log Files will no longer be
erased but send to the Recycle bin (as a good win9x
program should do <eg>)
Version 3.71
- Added Shutdown CPUIdle at
temperature X, This means that you can let MBM launch and
close CPUIdle when needed.
- Changed a DLL location, this
could cause CPUIdle to not find MBM.....my fault :-)
- I have had many mails asking
for the SWAP feature to return..... am still thinking
about this.
- Added Date to Interval log as
requested
- Increased the max interval
log time from 20 minutes to 200 minutes
Version 3.7
- Added full support for the
WinBond WinBond W83781D.
- Added support for CPUIdle, this means that MBM will launch CPUIdle
when your selected CPU temperature has reached value X,
and a future version of CPUIdle might use some of MBM
core files to show your CPU temperature.
- Added 2 more VU meters for
the 2 extra sensor the WinBond has
- Added 2 more checkboxes to
turn the extra sensors of the Winbond on or off on the
General Tab
- Added 2 more checkboxes to
show the extra sensors of the WinBond in the systemtray
- When a sensor is uncheck on
the General Tab then it's VU Meter will dissapear.
- Adjusted the Show selection
to match size as to how many VU Meters are displayed
- Removed the option to change
the Log Path
- Added System Info section on
the General Tab, thanks go to Andreas Goetz for the CPU
speed routine
- Combined the Motherboard Tab
and the CPU Tab to 1 tab with a pull down box called
Temperatures
- Added the 2 WinBond sensors
to Temperatures Tab, with the same options/setting as the
other 2
- Added a section to the
Voltage tab as some users requested to be able to raise
the +3.3 voltage manualy
- Added a Fan Settings section
to the Fan Tab, both the Fan Type and the Ignore Fan X
times have been moved to this section
- Removed the CPU & Fan
Type tab
- Added a Compensation Tab, on
this Tab you can enter a compensation value for each of
the 4 sensors if this is needed
- Removed the "swap
temperature in systemtray" option, as this is no
longer needed since you can display any or all
temperatures in your systemtray
- Change the way you select the
Font and color for the systemtray icon
- Added a section Names to the
Visual Tab, here you can rename the 4 sensors and the 3
fan's
- Added the 2 WinBond sensors
to the Log's
- Added CPU speed to the log as
many of you have requested
- Added the 2 WinBond sensors
to the UpandDown Tab
- Updated the help file with
all the the above <phew>
- Changed the Filename in the
registry that does the autostart from long to short, this
caused some faults here and there.
- Added CPUIdle Info section to
the CPUIdle tab
- Changed splash screen, being
a non artistic person I kinda like this new version
<g>
Version 3.62
- Fixed a small problem in the
Fan Alarm which sneaked in with version 3.5, thanks go to
Douglas Hemminger for finding it
Version 3.61
- By fixing 1 bug I created
another....that's fixed in this version.... and if there
is a 3.62 then that will probably fix a bug I created in
3.61 <eg>..... thanks go to Mike Constabel for
finding it and testing 3.61
Version 3.6
- Fixed a bug in the alarm
section that Sergio found, program will now wait for you
to acknolidge the alarm before checking other alarms
- When alarm goes icon changes
Version 3.5
- Added "Ignore Fan Alarm
X Times" on the General2 tab, this should help you
if you recover from a suspend mode on your PC and the
fan's are not yet at full speed. Thanks go to Al Haunts
for this simple solution.
Version 3.4r
- Fixed the
"Do you really want...." question when you use
the LM78 compensation.
Version 3.4
- As requested
the Begin and End times will appear in the Up's and Downs
Log File.
- The Warning
and Interval Log Files have been fixed for Netscape
(thanks Sergio), this will result in a little square at
the top of the html file.
- As requested,
when an alarm goes off you can enable or disable it on
the warning dialog.
- PC speaker is
such a success then as of version 3.4 it will be turned
on by default.
- As requested,
both the MB and CPU temperature can be seen in the system
tray at the same time.
- As requested
by a user, an LM78 Compensation Value, this should not be used if you don't
know why you would need it.
- A little bug found on the
dual MB & CPU display in the system tray has been
fixed (thanks again Sergio)
- Fixed a few
cosmetic faults that Peter Guzis noticed
- The Average
section in the Up's and Downs has been made more precise
thanks to Thomas George, it's now not just the Lowest and
Highest / 2 but it takes all the values readout and the
average of that will be displayed
- The Up's and
Downs help file has been renamed, the " ' " in
the file name cause some trouble with Norton (thanks
Ricky Mathews)
- In the Up's
and Down tab, txt and htm files all characters are taken
away to make easier for Excel to read the file in.
- The Program
now also works with SOME motherboard that have the
WinBond W83781D monitoring chip, the user can use the
LM78 Compensation value in the same way a LM75 users
would use the CPU Type compensation value.
- Fixed the PC
Speaker error that came with NT thanks to Stefan Hoffmeister.
Version 3.3
- It seems that on 1 NT
machine so far, when uninstalling, one registry entry
does not get deleted; made sure that Uninstall shield
does now delete it.
- As requested,
the "are you sure you want to close bla bla"
question, when pressing the X or selecting Exit in the
popup menu can now be turned off.
- As Jean
Pierre Desvaux requested you can now determine the
directory for the Log Files, so it won't interfere with
your scandisk or Defrag of drive C:.
- Also as
requested, on the up and down Log you can now check a box
marked "Save on Exit". This will save the highs
and lows of that session when MBM exits, so you can
compare it if you want to.
- Added an
Average section in the Ups and Downs tab. This is also
saved in the updown.log file.
- Fixed little
error when you click from F to C or the other way around.
The up and down tab now also gets updated correctly.
- Included
proper detection of the LM78. If it is not found then
user will get a message and the program will give no
values for MB temperature, Voltage and Fans.
- When the
program is in the System Tray it will no longer show up
in the ALT+TAB list.
- Fixed small
bug that when you don't agree with the license agreement
the program would initialize halfway. Now it won't and
terminates right after you press "I don't
agree".
- When an alarm
occurs the program will also appear on the Taskbar, so if
the alarm would fall under another window then you can
see it on the Taskbar.
- Every Alarm
(MB, CPU, Voltage and Fans) can now enable or disable
their own warning message.
- Every Alarm
(MB, CPU, Voltage and Fans) can now have PC speaker sound
when the alarm goes off. This is faster than a Wave and
also works for people who don't have a soundcard (yes
there still are :-) )
- Created this
Help file; included it in the setup routine and in the
help section of the popup menu.
- User can now
determine the frequency of the PC speaker in the general
tab.
- General Tab
has been enlarged using the same method as the Fan tab
- The Log Files
default location has been moved from the Windows
Directory to the Program Directory.
- Log Files are
now also Saved in HTML format. I only have IE4 to test,
so I hope it works on Netscape. Just used very basic HTML
so it should...I hope.
- On the
General Tab you can now select if you want the log files
to be in TXT, HTML or
both.
Version 3.2
- Added Code to make sure the program
cannot be run more than once.
- When pressing
the X you are now asked if you want to close it (like
before) but you can select Yes, No and Minimize.
- Added Quick
Check menu entry in the popup menu, to quickly check any
values without having to open the program
- Added the
ability to click on an entry in the Quick Check menu, to
get the current, max, min and alarm settings for the
selected entry.
- 1st Time
users will get a new window telling them that the program
needs the LM78 and andLM75. Some people missed this on the downloading
page.
Version 3.1
- Fixed a bug that would show up in the
Interval Log when an alarm goes off and the Interval Log
is writing. Thanks to Sergio Formicola for finding this
bug
- If no Fan is
installed, this will show as N/A in the Interval Log.
- In the
Warning Log I have put the Date back. Many requests came
for this.
- Also in the
General Tab you can now select the Tab you want on top the next time you start
the program.
Version 3.0
- NT 4.0+ Compatible
- To get the program NT compatible
some changes had to be made in the program. The
installation became too complex to do it manually so
Install Shield 2.0 has been used. Users of previous
versions before 3.0 please read the instructions on the
downloading page.
- Fixed an
interesting problem thanks to Bill Web. If you have a Fan
alarm on and the Fan would come to a full stop between 2
checks, Motherboard Monitor would just display "not
available" for that Fan and not raise an alarm. This
has _hopefully_ been fixed. If the Fan Alarm is on and it
comes to a full stop then an error message should be
displayed.
- Changed the +
& - buttons to a more user-friendly type. The new
type can be held down to increase or decrease faster.
- Changed
layout of Log file. It's all in columns now and easier to compare.
- Added a warnings log file, so
there are now 2 separate log files -- the warning log
file and the interval log file
Version 2.9
- Changed Milliseconds to
normal seconds for all the interval times.
- Added Fan tab with all the
alarm options. Since there is no way for the program to
tell how many RPM a fan normally should make, you can set
the standard RPM values of each fan. The % that the fan
can be of these values and what should happen if the fan
is off (show message, play wave, run program) are all very
similar to the Voltage tab.
- Added a Log
Tab. This has been requested several times, so here it
finally is. On it are 2 checkboxes of importance. If the
1st box is checked all warnings will be written to the
Log file; if the 2nd box is checked then at intervals you
set yourself (in minutes) the program writes Temperature,
Voltage and Fan RPM to the file.
- You can set
the maximum size of the Log file; if that size is reached
then the interval logging will stop, NOT the logging of
warnings.
- Added the
selection of what to write on the interval log
(Temperature, Voltage Fans).
- Added the
ability to start, stop, view and erase the log file via
the popup menu.
- Added the
option to turn the 4 log file options (start, stop, view
and erase) off in the Popup menu. It's of no use there
unless you are planning on using the log file.
- Changed the
layout of the Fan tab. It now has 3 sections, 1 for each
fan. The idea came from the Voodoo II 3D tab :-)
- Double
Clicking on the System Tray icon will now restore the
window how you left it the last time, so if the window
was expanded before you minimized it, double clicking
will expand it also.
- Removed the
left click. Right click brings up the menu (like before)
and a double left click will show the window. Left click
has been removed until I can fix it to not show the popup
menu when you double left click.
- When running
the program the 1st time you will get a message saying the program
will continue in the system tray. Some users ran the
program and were lost after they filled in the core
voltage and CPU type. They never saw it in their system
tray.
- Replaced the checkboxes from
the VU meters to the General Tab.
- Made the Un-install a bit
more user friendly.
- Gave all windows the same
look.
Version 2.8
- Added a checkbox under each
VU Meter. When they are checked the program will try to
check the temperature, unchecked it won't. This is -hopefully- a temporary
solution for those who get a wrong readout (0C or 32F).
They can now turn that check off to save resources since
it's of no use for
them
Version 2.7
- Added the "Up's and
Downs" tab. This shows the lowest and highest values
reached this session. Mostly this is for people who want
to see changes in
temperatures when they are placing new fans etc. etc. and
don't want to keep watching the temperature.
Version 2.6
- Added a select Font button in
the visual tab. It allows you to select what font the
temperature is written on/in the system tray
- Changed the checkbox "do
not use degree symbol" to "use degree symbol in
window" to make it more clear. Default is checked.
- Removed the Color change
button for the Font Text of the icon. This can be done
together with the Select Font button.
- Removed the Text size buttons
for the Font Text of the icon. This can be done together
with the Select Font button
Version 2.5
- Added in the Visual section
the option to Swap Motherboard and CPU temperature in the
system tray every X seconds.
- Made sure that if you only
have Motherboard Temperature on your system you can not
select the Swap option mentioned above or the CPU option
in the General Tab.
- Added a Fan Type option. I am
still not happy about the Fan Speed so if anybody has any
idea / feedback, please mail me :-)
Version 2.4
- Added Un-Install option in
the menu. Clicking this will Un-install the program and
remove all the registry entries.
- Added a confirm box when you
exit the program. I found myself clicking by accident on
the X instead of the _ button......this does not
interfere when you close windows.
- Added the option to not start
minimized but start up in "Show" mode.
- Moved the Web Page (as you
found out getting here). /mbmonitor sounds better than
/mbtemp........the program has come a long way from a
simple temperature reader <g>
- Made sure the Help > Web
Page leads to the right page.
- Fixed some Start up troubles
that were gone in 2.2 but reappeared in 2.3. At times it
showed a wrong temperature in the system tray for half a
second or so. It should now be fixed. (thanks Thomas
George)
Version 2.3
- Fixed some weird bug that
happened with IE 4 / Active desktop or something. It
caused the program to start OFF screen, so at an -X -Y
location.
- Made it possible for the font
size to be smaller then 7. Just remember that 7 is the
lowest supported size, so if it starts to look weird,
don't blame me, mail bill <g>.
- Added an extra warning at the
CPU selection screen when you start the program 1st time,
and added warning below the VU- Meters.
- Hopefully fixed the Division
by 0 error one of you was getting :-)
- Added the option to have a
Degree symbol in the system tray if you want to.
- Raised the maximum interval
time to 20000ms (20 seconds) to lower CPU usage even
more.
- Made sure that when you
change a visual item you don't have to wait for the above
mentioned interval.
- Added link section to my
page, so if any of you have useful program that works
with this program (using the RUN feature) or anything
else, just drop me a mail
Version 2.2
- Removed the .5 mark that some
CPU Temperatures give since they messed up the System
Tray display.
- Added Visual Tab.
- Added Option to disable the 2
lines in the System Tray.
- Added Option to change the
colors of the icon in the System Tray. The Icon is
however only 16 colors, so not all the colors you can
select will be displayed properly. Working on that but
don’t hold your breath.
- Added Option to change the
Font size of the System Tray icon. Depending on your
system setup this could give a better view.
- Changed the CPU Temperature
routine. Before if a Timeout appeared it would stop
checking the CPU; now it will try again.
- Changed Truncate F to Round
off F.
- Added Splash Screen (fits
with my e-mail address ;-)
Version 2.1
- REALLY Fixed the GPF, which
happened when resizing the resolution or running DirectX
games.
- Fixed GPF when screen saver
kicked in. All these GPF came from the system tray
routine.
- Seemed to have Fixed the GPF
with Matrox cards and a DOS box (fingers crossed)
- Added the option to remove
the Degree symbol for those people who do not have the
western character set.
- You can now set the interval
time when the LM78 and LM75 modules are read.
- Added Customize CPU option.
This will make sure that all types of CPU's can be
monitored, now and in the future.
- Fixed strange bug when
running the program the 1st time. On some PC's the 1st
CPU temperature read out is wrong. Any read out after
that is correct.
- Created a top and bottom line
in the system tray so that the temperature icon looks a
bit better.
- Totally changed the layout of
the options screen. Each section now has it's own tab.
- Made sure that on all buttons
and labels I used the same True Type Font (Arial 8) so it
won't change too much on different PC’s.
- Added "Run at
startup" option. This will make windows try to start
up the program on bootup.
- Removed the detection
routine. This caused a lot of trouble on some PC's
Version 2.0
- Fixed the GPF, which happened
when resizing the resolution.
- Added CPU temperature.
- Totally changed the Option
section.
- Gave each Alarm setting it's
own options tab, so for each of the 3 alarms you can run
a different wave or program.
- Added option to display
either MB or CPU temperature in the system tray.
- Added CPU selection when 1st
run.
Version 1.1
- Added a suspend option, for
those who are using a Matrox card and work in a DOS box.
As shown under Known Issues this will cause a GPF, so you
now can suspend the program. I know it is no real fix, but until I find
out why the Matrox driver causes this, it's the best
solution.
Version 1.0
- Went back to the original windows
button for minimizing. The only impact this has is when
using large fonts, the small panel is a bit bigger than
it was before (since it needs room for the large
minimize, maximize and close buttons).
- Totally
changed the M/B selection routine. Now you just have to
select which port that comes closest to your M/B voltage
setting and set the standard Core Voltage setting for
your board.
- Added the
option to run a program when the alarm goes off.
- Added the
option to disable the alarm message (for if you run a program).
- Fixed stupid error when
calculating % off for voltage (thanks Tom George).
Beta 5.1
- Added checkboxes for each
Voltage reading.
- Changed M/B selection to include more
M/B types and the option to see which readout fits your
board.
- Increased the
Voltage off maximum to 20%.
- Changed Fan 3
calculation. This remains
a dodgy part.
Beta 5.0
- Added Alarm settings for
Voltage Meter.
- Added customized Alarm Sound
option.
- When Expanding panel it's no
longer always on top but will appear on taskbar.
- Settings will be saved when
