Multi-file support
These options only pertain when you have selected more than 1 file to split.
Split all files as 1 zip file
When this option is selected, AxMan will zip all the files selected to split into 1 zip file and then split the single zip file.
Split each file separately
When this option is selected, AxMan will split all of the files selected to split in batch mode.  i.e. each file will be split 1 at a time. (NOTE: If the zip option is selected then AxMan will first zip 1 file, then split that file, then zip the next file, and then split it, and so on.)
Auto-generate filenames for each piece
This option only pertains when you have select to split each file separately.  When this option is selected, AxMan will ignore the target file name specified and auto-generate the target file name for each file that is split.  (NOTE: If this option is not selected then AxMan will split each file to the same name).

General Options
These are general split options.
Prompt to format each disk
When this option is selected, AxMan will prompt to format each disk before it used.   However, AxMan will not attempt to format a fixed drive (such as a hard drive) if that is the specified directory.
Include AxManRestore
When this option is selected, AxMan will place a copy of the free restore-only version of AxMan with the last split piece. AxManRestore is a free program to everyone that you may distribute to your friends, familiy, co-workers, etc. so that they may be able to restore any file that you split with AxMan.
Include checksum
When this option is selected, AxMan will calculate a CRC-32 checksum for each split file and include it with each piece.  This checksum can later be used during the restore or verification processes to determine the integrity of each split piece.  This checksum enables AxMan to guarantee you that the file restored is exactly the same as the original files split.  This option is highly recommeded.  NOTE:  This option is not available when splitting to non-axman format.
Remove original file after splitting
When this option is selected, AxMan will remove the file selected to split after it has successfully completed splitting the file.  NOTE: Use with caution.

Non-AxMan format options
These options are specific to splitting to non-AxMan format.

Split to non-AxMan format
When selected AxMan will split the file to non-axman format.  Normally, when AxMan splits a file, it splits the file into multi pieces.  Axman may write additional information such as the calculated checksum into each piece.  The inclusion of this information is what causes the file to be in Axman format.  The implication is that the original file cannot be restored by simply concatenating each piece together. Therefore, only AxMan and AxManRestore will be able to restore the original file for you.   If you need to restore the file on an O/S not supported by AxMan (such as Win 3.1), then you will need to split the file to non-AxMan format.
Create batch file for restoring
When selected, AxMan will create a batch file that can later be used to restore the original file.  This option is only valid if you have selected to split the file to non-Axman format.  The batch file will be written after the last piece and therefore, when splitting to floppy disks, it is located on the last floppy.  In order to use this batch file to restore the original file, you must copy all of the split pieces and the batch file to the same directory on your PC and then run the batch file.  The original file will be created in the same directory as all of the other files.
Generate 8.3 compliant names
When selected, AxMan will ensure that each piece that it creates adheres to the short file name(8.3) rules imposed by Win 3.1 and DOS.  This option is only valid when splitting to non-Axman format.  It is extremely usefull when you are splitting a file that you intend to restore on a Win 3.1 machine.

Default values for main split window
These values determine what the default split values will be for the main split window.

Destination directory
This value specifies the default destination directory.  If you commonly split your files to the same directory (ex: A:\, C:\split files\) the you may wish to set this value to that directory.
Split type
This option determines what the default split type will be.
