Icon Bank (Desktop Edition) 03-17-99 Spriteworks Dev. H O T C L I C K S Today's Free File Weekly Top 10 PC Magazine utilities If you're looking for icons for your programming project, go to the bank -- the Icon Bank, that is. This collection features more than 600 256-color icon-sized images in .bmp format, with the promise of over 5,000 images total when you register. Icon Bank uses your Web browser to look through its well-organized pages. When you find a graphic you like, just right-click on it and select Save Picture As to convert it to .ico format. (Icon files are essentially standard bitmap files with different extensions, so you'll have to specify the .ico extension when you do this.) If it's more convenient to have your icons already come in standard .ico format or embedded in Icon Library files, you might want to look elsewhere. But if you prefer them in .bmp form, Icon Bank could be a valuable resource. Reviewed on Mar 17 1999.
