The International Symposium : The past and present of the computer technique

In 1997 we commemorate the forty years of the putting into operation of the SAPO - the first electronic computer in Czechoslowakia - and the 90th birthday of its chief designer Antonin Svoboda, who is founder of the scientific school, what is world famous as well as its founder.

The Society for the History of Science and Technology of the Czech Republic and the National Technical Museum in Prague take advantage of this opportunity and would invite the graduates and collaborators of the professor Svoboda, as well as the experts in this branche to express their ideas about past and future of the computer science and computer technology and about its influence upon the contemporary as well as future society.
