Vincenc Makovsky (1900-1966), a sculptor and representative of our avant-garde between the wars. As a professor at the School of Arts in Zlin he created in 1940, in cooperation with designers of the engineering works MAS, the first plaster model 1:1 of a machine tool, lathe R50, conceived as an artistic work. The model was exhibited at the 5th Zlin Salon of Arts in 1940. In 1941, Makovsky created the radial drilling machine VR8 that was, in its design, the first Czech radial drilling machine and was produced in three sizes. In the 50s, Makovsky worked at the School of Building Engineering in Brno where he educated several future designers - O.Diblik, J.Pavelka, and others.
