There was a prevailing opinion in the period of founding the Technical Museum in 1908 that the collection of architecture is more related to painting and sculpture. On the other hand, there were no objections to creating an independent group of civil engineering. The collections of hydraulic, bridge and road engineering were thus gradually created. They were combined with the collection of water engineering and sewerage in the 60s. Currently, they form a part of the department of architecture and civil engineering.
