Erasmus Habermel
Habermel belongs to excellent mechanicians of the turn of
16th and 17th centuries. He held a post of the court
mechanician of the Emperor Rudolf II, probably from 1576 to
1606. He also worked for distinguished personalities, such
as Vilem and Petr Vok of Rozmberk, Frantisek of Paduansky of
Forli, personal physician to Rudolf II, and others. There
are 13 of his instruments in the collection of the National
Technical Museum, e.g. sextants, sundials, drafting and
measuring devices.
