The NTM regularly studies and digests the history of technology in the Czech lands and fulfills so its societal mission. This work has the form of organized research, involving our own and also tens of external researchers. So far was in two stages the period from the year 1800 up to the year 1945 worked over and it was publicized in six extensive volumes of an extent of approx. 3000 printed pages. At the present is being conducted the research of the years 1945-1992, which aims to capture and critically evaluate the experiences of a generation of engineers, which itself was involved in shaping the history of Czech technology of this latest period. The work is planned to result in three volumes of an overall extent of 1500 printed pages and 92 contributors are participating in this. The research itself is financially secured, however there are no means for its publication. This will be possible in the year 1999 at an estimated financial cost of 1.5 mil. Czech crowns.
