The largest part of the collection is represented by
rotating electric direct- and alternating-current machines.
It contains experimental models of early machines for
transforming mechanical energy into electric power and vice
versa. The machines of domestic provenance are represented,
in particular, by the designs of Frantisek Krizik and Emil
Kolben (EAS, later CKD), the collection comprises also other
producers (Bartelmus-Donat, Sousedik, Skoda and others). The
collection contains also traction motors for the electric
line (Krizik) and electromobiles (Kolben, Sousedik). Foreign
products are more frequently represented by machines from
Germany and Austria. The collection also contains two high-
frequency alternators of French provenance (SFR) that were
used in transmitters. The fund also includes controllers and
motor starters.
Moreover, the collection contains the device
serving for distribution of electric energy (isolators,
switches, circuit breakers, insulators, complete
switchboards, contactors, fuses, small fittings, etc.).
The collection of chemical and thermoelectric sources of
electric power includes principal elements of most galvanic
cells used in our country and several batteries of
thermoelectric cells heated by gas or liquid fuel burners.
The collection of electrostatic devices consist mostly of
electrostatic sources, demonstration aids and, last but not
least, a group of lightning rods.
