The collection of products made of plastic materials
includes almost 400 items. They originate from the late
50s and served for promoting the substitution of metals with
plastics in a wide assortment of engineering and consumer
goods. A large part of them was donated to the Museum by the
Committee for introducing new types of goods, improving
quality and packaging in Prague. From the material point of
view the collection contains: polyamides, polyester
laminates, polymethacrylates, phenol (cresol) formaldehyde
resins, laminated materials, polystyrene, acetobutyrate,
PVC, melamine resins, foamy polystyrene, epoxide and
polyethylene.
The collection of plastics comprises also products from
glass fibres that are used for production of glass-fibre
reinforced plastics. They come from the Pressing Shop of New
Materials in Vrbno pod Pradedem and from its subsidiaries,
from Kablo Kladno, Tesla, Kablo Bratislava, Gumon
Bratislava, Plastimat Praha.
