Network Components ACI includes various network components required to use the supported networks protocols. In certain cases, depending on your implementation, these protocols may not be included with 4D Client or 4D Server (refer to the Network Components online documentation for more information). In this folder, you will find the installer to install: - The Network Component Appletalk 6.0.5 - The Network Component TCP/IP 6.0.5 - The Network Component IPX 6.0.5 - The Network Component Local 6.0.5 Memory Component 6.0.5 This component (also called "Local" component) has been designed for users who want to do Client/Server on the same machine. With network components like IPX, TCP, ADSP on Open Transport, Client/Server on the same machine is not allowed. - Use of the Memory component. We strongly advise you to limit the use of this component to simple tasks with 4D Server (like administration tasks for example). Indeed, you have to know that, due to its peculiar architecture, this component is very far from reaching the time performance of a 4D Client using a normal network component somewhere on the network (especially in data manipulation). Another clever way to use this component is to use it for testing purposes (if you need to simulate one more 4D Client for example). Important point: As the Memory component doesn't use network layers, using the Memory component is also a way to do Client/Server without using the network at all. - Compatibility of Memory component with other products. The Memory component has been designed for 4th Dimension 6.0.5. This component works only between a 4D Client and a 4D Server. At this time, it doesn't work with other products like 4D Insider, 4D Backup and 4D Open. Note: In order to read any '.pdf' file, you must first launch the Acrobat Reader Installer, which is in the ‘DOCVIEW’ folder of your CD-Rom. © Copyright 1985-1998 ACI SA. All rights reserved.
