An important guest at this year's Invex-Computer trade fair is Purna Pareek, vice-president of Progress Software, responsible for the management of the Progress Apptivity division. During his visit to Invex Purna Pakeek will unveil a new version of the Apptivity Java development environment. The Fair Daily asked Mr. Pareek a few questions.

What has brought you to Brno Mr. Pareek?
I have come to Brno for several reasons. One of these was my participation in this morning's international videoconference, in which we discussed the application of IT in the state and public adminstration. Another reason is the premiere of our new product and, of course, that I meet the IT elite from both the Czech Republic and abroad here.

What impression has your stay in the Czech Republic made on you?
It has been an extremely interesting visit. This is the first time I have been in the Czech Republic. I liked Prague very much - it is very beautiful and picturesque. The fair itself and today's conference, in which a great many people took part, are also extremely interesting. I am most satisfied.

What does your company offer the Czech and eastern European market?
A couple of interesting items. Certainly our application development tools and database technology. I am also sure we can offer tools for effective work on the Internet.

Can you imagine life without the IT applications?
No, I cannot.
