SDE makes large spatial databases accessible

SDE (Spatial Database Engine) from ESRI company is an object based tool for accessing large spatial databases. Multi-user access is possible thanks to client/server architecture. It is possible to work in an environment of various relation databases. With help of this tool the user is able to do simple as well as complex analyses of large volumes of spatial data. SDE is also designed for developing of specific applications for the access and manipulation of various types of spatial data. With help of SDE it is possible to manage millions of geographical units placed in the relation database. These units contain information such as parcel number, parcel owner, road class and others. In addition it is possible to employ spatial and analytical functions too. Data can be accessed via local or global networks and the TCP/IP protocol. The XDR data representation will provide rapid access to data in heterogeneous networks.
