README FIle for 3D Blaster PCI ------------------------------ This is the Read Me file for the 3D Blaster PCI Windows 95/98 driver update. This file contains information on how to replace the 3D Blaster PCI drivers currently used by your system with the latest version (v3.06). Note that this set of drivers include support for Windows 98. However, it works only as a single primary adaptor in Windows 98. This file contains the following sections: I. How to install the latest set of 3D Blaster PCI drivers for Windows 95 (both retail and OSR2 versions) II. How to install the latest set of 3D Blaster PCI drivers for Windows 98 III. How to install the latest set of 3D Blaster PCI drivers for ----------------------------------------------------------- Windows 95 (both retail and OSR2 versions) ------------------------------------------- To install this set of drivers for the 3D Blaster PCI, follow the steps listed below: 1. Create a new directory (for example, C:\NEWDRV) on your hard disk. 2. Copy the new set of 3D Blaster PCI drivers to this directory. 3. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. 4. In the Control Panel window, double-click the Display icon. The Display Properties dialog box appears. 5. Click the Settings tab. 6. Click the Change Display Type button or the Advanced Properties button. The Change Display Type dialog box or the Advanced Display Properties dialog box appears. The name '3D Blaster PCI' is displayed in the Adapter Type box. 7. Click the Change button next to '3D Blaster PCI'. The Select Device dialog box appears. 8. Click the Have Disk button. 9. In the Install From Disk dialog box, type the directory path where the new 3D Blaster PCI drivers are found (eg, C:\NEWDRV) and click the OK button. A new Select Device dialog box appears. 10. Make sure that the '3D Blaster PCI' entry is selected in the Models list box and click the OK button. The new 3D Blaster PCI drivers are copied to your system. 11. Click the Close button to close the Change Display Type dialog box or the Advanced Display Properties dialog box. 12. Click the Close button to close the Display Properties dialog box. 13. When prompted to restart the system, click the Yes button. After your system restarts, the new 3D Blaster PCI Windows 95 drivers will take effect. 2. How to install the latest set of 3D Blaster PCI drivers for ----------------------------------------------------------- Windows 98 ---------- To install the new set of 3D Blaster PCI drivers on your system if you are using Windows 98, follows the steps below: 1. Create a new directory (for example, C:\NEWDRV) on your hard disk. 2. Copy the new set of 3D Blaster PCI drivers to this directory. 3. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. 4. In the Control Panel window, double-click the Display icon. The Display Properties dialog box appears. 5. Click the Settings tab. 6. Click the Advanced button. The Advanced Display Properties dialog box appears. 7. Click the Adapter tab. The name '3D Blaster PCI' is displayed in the Adapter box. 8. Click the Change button next to '3D Blaster PCI'. The Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box appears. 9. Click the Next button. 10. Select the option 'Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want'. 11. Click the Next button. 12. Click the Have Disk button. 13. In the dialog box, type the directory path to where the new 3D Blaster PCI drivers are found (eg, C:\NEWDRV) and click the OK button. A new Select Device dialog box appears. 14. Make sure that the 3D Blaster PCI entry is selected and click the OK button. The new 3D Blaster PCI drivers are copied to your system. 15. Click the Finish button. 16. Click the Close button to close the Advanced Display Properties dialog box. 17. Click the Close button to close the Display Properties dialog box. 18. When prompted to restart the system, click the Yes button. After your PC restarts, the new 3D Blaster PCI Windows 98 drivers will take effect. 3. What are the enhancements in this version of the drivers? --------------------------------------------------------- The enhancements in this new version of the 3D Blaster PCI drivers include: * Compatibility with Microsoft DirectX 5 drivers * Enhanced 2D performance * Enhanced DirectDraw and Direct3D performance * Resolution of certain display problems in different localized (language) versions of Windows 95 * Use the optimal refresh rate of the selected monitor type when running full screen DirectX games * Netscape missing text bug solved * Screen corruption when switching from full scrren dos box solved 4. Known Problems -------------- * Animated cursor may cause system lockup. Turn off the animated cursor feature to avoid this problem. * Problem in MPEG video playback for 32bpp. Switch to 16bpp for MPEG video playback. * No multi-monitor support on Windows 98. *** End of Readme ***
