The Internet is a collection of computer networks that connects millions of computers around the world. Microsoft Internet Explorer enables you to connect to the Internet to gain access to the vast stores of information on these computers. Whether youÆre searching for information or having it delivered to your computer, take a look at some of the features that make it easy to browse the Internet.
With the Channels Add-On component, the latest Web content is automatically delivered to you from the world's best content providers.
With the Subscription Manager Add-On component, you can subscribe to your favorite sites so that the content is automatically updated whenever you want—daily, weekly, or monthly. Internet Explorer can download updated Web pages or entire sites in the background while you do other work on your computer, or even while you sleep. Then you can look at them later online, offline, at work, at home, or on the road.
Create a button on the Links bar just by dragging a link to it from the Address bar or a Web page. You can easily customize the Links bar to display buttons the way you want them. Or add a Web page to your list of favorites for easy access from the Favorites menu or Explorer bar.
Search for Web sites using the new Explorer bar. Click the Search button on the toolbar: The Explorer bar appears in the left side of the browser window. Then you can click a link to view that page on the right side of your screen while still viewing the list of search results on the left. You can similarly browse through your Favorites and History folders.
Using security zones, you can set different levels of security for different areas of the Web to protect your computer. With Content Advisor, you can screen out objectionable or offensive content by using industry-standard ratings defined independently by the Platform for Internet Content Selection (PICS) committee.
Does your Web browsing take you around the world to Web pages written in languages other than the one you use on your computer? You can add the character sets for those languages, so that the pages are displayed correctly.
