How do I operate the weapons controls?

Hint 1 of 8:

Spock is the only one in your party knowledgeable enough to use them, so
you'll have to insert "use Spock" wherever I say "use" in these hints.

Look at the butons on the triangular console.

Hint 3 of 8:

Maybe you should try experimenting with them a bit.

Hint 4 of 8:

Press the blue button to load in a weapons cartridge.

Hint 5 of 8:

And use a yellow button to unload the cartridge.

Hint 6 of 8:

You won't be able to use fully the red button until you've explored the
ship a bit more.

Hint 7 of 8:

In particular, you'll need to get the computer operational and access the
controls on the bridge before you'll have the proper information.

Hint 8 of 8:

Once you've used the red button, Spock will give you a bit of technical
information, and you'll be presented with a chance to take the weapon back to
the Enterprise for further study.
