How do I operate the 10-50 puzzle?

This puzzle is mostly a process of elimination.

Hint 2 of 9:

Pulling the lever resets the puzzle to the beginning.

Hint 3 of 9:

Pushing the buttons at the bottom finish the round & give you your score.

Hint 4 of 9:

Try placing all of the same symbols in the first row & see if you score
points.  If not, try another set of symbols.

Hint 5 of 9:

If you score any points, begin eliminating some to see which one is in the
correct position.

Hint 6 of 9:

You're aiming at a perfect score of 50 points!

Hint 7 of 9:

10 points = your symbol is right & it's in the right spot.
1 point = 1 symbol is correct, but it's in the wrong spot.
0 points = the symbol is wrong, and it's in the wrong spot.

Hint 8 of 9:

Each time you get 10 points, you'll realize which symbols will be in the
solution.
