3A. REGISTERED CONNECTION

Connecting to Wireplay as a registered user

Once you're registered as a Wireplay user, connecting to the service is quick and easy. (Note: all trial users are by definition registered users.)

  1. Launch your Wireplay program and wait for the WHO ARE YOU? screen to appear.

  2. If your nickname is not already shown in the space provided, type it in or select it from the list by clicking on it.

  3. Click on the 'Connect' button and type in your password. This will appear on screen as asterisks and should not be disclosed to unauthorised users.

  4. If you want to avoid manually entering your password for future connections, click on the 'Store Password' button.

  5. (Note: if you do this, anyone with access to your computer will be able to join in Wireplay games using your nickname and may adversely affect your competition rankings.)

  6. Click on the 'Continue' button and wait for your modem to connect you to Wireplay. After about 20 to 30 seconds, you will see a WELCOME screen displaying Wireplay connection charges and other service information.

  7. When you have finished with the WELCOME screen, click on the 'Continue' button to go to the Wireplay NOTICEBOARD, and you'll be ready to arrange a game.

Troubleshooting

  1. If you make a mistake with your nickname or password, you will be asked to re-type them and try again. Simply enter the details in the boxes provided and click on the 'Retry' button.

  2. If at any point you see a message telling you that certain games on your system are not Wireplay games, it probably means that you haven't entered their details correctly on the SET-UP screen. This won't prevent you from connecting to Wireplay, or from playing the other games on your system - but before playing these 'problem' games, you'll need to consult the individual game data sheets that came with your Wireplay package or the game set up information on News and correct any mistakes you may have made.
