TWO WAYS TO PLAY The Classic Mission Classic Battleship will be instantly recognisable to fans of the original game as a turn-based game that uses the traditional grid system for targeting and destroying opponents’ fleets. This version of the game can be played solo or with up to four other players, over a Local Area Network or the Internet, with each fleet under either human or computer control. The mission objectives remain unchanged, with each battle taking place on two to four grids, (one per player), each consisting of the traditional 10 by 10 squares. Start the game by strategically positioning your ships onto your own 10 by 10 grid. Initiate your attack by selecting a co-ordinate on your grid, then click on the grid of the player you want to attack. If the shot hits the target, the square will be highlighted with a red buoy, and the animation shown in the Full Motion Video screen will be an attack sequence showing the resultant explosion from a distance. When you destroy one of your opponent’s ships, you will experience a close-up sequence showing the defeated vessel sinking to the depths of the merciless ocean. The overall victor is the player with ships remaining, or the most points at the end of the game. Throughout the battle you will be able to communicate and form alliances with other players, using the in-game message system. Decide before the battle begins how many shots each player has per turn. You can also set up the mission so that all players select targets at the same time in a battle to the death! The Supreme Assignment Select the Ultimate Battleship option and you will find yourself commanding operations on land, sea and in the air. Featuring the unique same-time gameplay system, it allows you to witness the result of your strategic moves instantaneously as if you were in the thick of the action. No more gaps in the action while you view the result: this is real life! Played on one of 40 magnificently 3D rendered ocean maps (2,000 square mile coverage), each features islands, land-masses and oil rigs as well as accommodating your attack forces. Not only will you have at your disposal battleships and submarines, but you will have the facility to take command of aircraft and helicopters too. Soon you will learn that the job of exercising control over broad ocean areas involves sending forward power-projection forces to compel the enemy to adopt a defensive stance. With AWACS, reconnaissance aircraft and military satellite as part of your surveillance system, use your radar screens to find out additional information about your enemy’s fleet In this advanced game you can choose from four player difficulty levels and five different game objectives. Choose the annihilation option and you must fight to the death. The victor is the player with ships still afloat, having wiped out all enemy fleets. For a more strategic challenge, select the convoy option, where your mission is to escort merchant convoys across the map. The other players will deploy all their forces to destroy these convoys. Add to this the intriguing challenge of military satellite recovery, strategic island invasion scenarios or the savage total-war-experience where only the most tactical commanders will survive. A challenge for even the most experienced Admiral, Ultimate Battleship will satisfy all of your lust for power and control, both visually and mentally!
