The game readme file called "read.me" contains information about memory setup and graphic cards supported. The CD contains vga and super vga versions of the AirPower demo. These demos must be installed onto a hard drive before they can be used. The total disk space required is approximately 10MB. There is one installation procedure, namely from the CD airpower directory: install -d drive:\directory\ where drive is the hard disk drive and dircetory is the hard disk dircetory eg: install -d c:\airpower\ To run the VGA demo: 1) Change to the directory on your hard disk 2) AIRPOWER To reselect sound and music hardware type: 1) Change to the directory on your hard disk 2) AIRPOWER ? To test for Super-VGA compatibility: 1) Change to the directory on your hard disk 2) SVGATEST If the SVGATEST is successful and if you have a 486DX66 machine or better, then we recommend that you try the svga demo. The game can be run on slower machines in SVGA, please see graphics support below. To run the super VGA demo: 1) Change to the directory on your hard disk 2) AIRPOWER To reselect resolution, sound and music hardware type: 1) Change to the directory on your hard disk 2) AIRPOWER ? Memory Requirements for Demo ---------------------------- These figures are approximate. vga Hard Disk: about 10MB RAM: 460KB of conventional memory to load program + 50KB of conventional or umb memory to run + 20KB for music and sfx 2.3MB EMS sga Hard Disk: about 10MB RAM: 460KB of conventional memory to load program + 50KB of conventional or umb memory to run + 20KB for music and sfx 2.3MB EMS Program Configuration --------------------- After typing "Airpower", you will be presented with the standard Airpower program configuration: Colour Options: Choose 1 for 320x200 VGA or Choose 3 for 640x400 super VGA Music Options: Choose any option except Roland. User Interface -------------- 1. The following keyboard controls are available: Enter to move onto the next stage of the demo Esc to restart the demo GRAPHICS SUPPORT The game, as opposed to the demo, can be played in 3 different setups: VGA mode mixed mode SVGA mode In VGA mode, all sections of the game are presented in 256 colours and standard resolution. This mode will work on 386 and more advanced machines. On some 386 machines, it may be necessary to go to the lowest level of detail. This provides: no imagemapping of the landscape imagemapping on aircraft and some targets In mixed mode, the non-flight section of the game is presented in super VGA and the flying section is presented in standard VGA resolution, both using 256 colours. This mode is recommended for 486 machines up to and including 486-DX50. In super VGA mode, all sections of the game are presented in 256 colours and high resolution. To run the flying section with full detail requires at least a 486-DX66 local bus machine. Of course, it is possible to run the flying section on a slower machine at lower detail levels.
