______________________________________________________________________ CD Gamer July Issue, 1995 Running To run FRAMED Simply click on the 'Play Directly from CD' button or execute the file FRAMED.EXE by typing its name at the DOS prompt and pressing ENTER. FRAMED requires approximately 540K of free base memory to run. Usually typing MEM at the DOS prompt will tell you how much free memory is available. Controls All controls are viewable from within the game. Just click on the HELP option. If you do not have enough memory try editing your CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files and inserting a REM command at the start of the lines that load memory resident drivers such as MOUSE or EMM386. Then reboot your computer so that these changes take effect. Later you can delete the REM statements to restore your old set up. If SMARTDRV or another software disk cache is installed we recommend disabling it prior to running FRAMED as the delayed write feature will cause scrolling to become jerky at certain points. Also, we do not advise running FRAMED under Windows. Once the game has loaded you will see the front screen. Press any key to load the Main Menu. Firstly select Configuration and select your sound and control devices. We recommend you select Keyboard Only as this gives the best control and also because the joystick is unable to perform all the keyboard functions. If your PC has a 386 processor or better select the Fast Machine setting. Some of the faster 286 based machines are also fine on the Fast Machine setting. If the game suddenly slows down in certain places you need to change your setting to Slow Machine. The scrolling will be less smooth but it will be consistent throughout the game. SHAREWARE --------- FRAMED is released as shareware. This is software that you can try before you buy it. FRAMED is a platform adventure game with an evolving plot that unfolds as you play. This plot spans several scenarios. This shareware version contains the first scenario which is set in a jail. If you enjoy playing FRAMED you can register and receive the remaining scenarios that complete the whole quest. However the first scenario is fully playable and should take you many hours to complete. Indeed it is larger than some full games. For full information on the remaining scenarios and how to order, select How to Register from the Main Menu. CONTROLS -------- All the controls for FRAMED are shown by selecting Help from the Main Menu or Game Menu. We recommend that you read and print the file GAMEPLAY.DOC which walks you through the beginning of the game. FANCY WORKING IN THE GAMES INDUSTRY? ------------------------------------ If you are interested in working in the games industry yourself read the files PAGE.DOC and JOINUS.DOC.
