WELCOME TO THE LOTUS SMARTSUITE 97 CD-ROM

MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
- 486/DX2 running at 66Mhz or higher (Pentium processor recommended)
- 8Mb RAM (16Mb recommended)
- Windows 3.1x or Windows 95
- 640x480 graphics card and display
- 256 colours
- Double-speed CD-ROM drive
- Soundblaster compatible sound card and speakers (recommended)
- 82Mb (minimum) to 220Mb (maximum) available hard disk space for
  SmartSuite 97 installation - optional

TO RUN THIS PROGRAM:
- Windows 3.1x:
        - Close all open applications
        - Insert the CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive
        - Go to File and select Run
        - Type D:\S_Suite.exe where 'D:' is your CD-ROM drive

- Windows 95:
        - Close all open applications
        - Insert the CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive
        - The program will auto-run when inserted into your CD-ROM drive

INSTALLING SMARTSUITE 97 30-DAY TRIAL VERSION:
- Windows 3.1x:
        - SmartSuite 97 is only available for Windows 95 - it will not
          work in Windows 3.1x! SmartSuite 4.5 is the latest version of
          SmartSuite for Windows 3.1x - please contact your local reseller
          for full product information.

- Windows 95:
        - If you have a previous version of the application that you are
          installing from the trial CD, you must specify a different
          directory for the 30-day trial version. If you do not specify a
          different directory, the install program will overwrite the
          previous version of the application with the 30-day trial version.

        - If you have previously installed SmartSuite 96 and you do not want
          to upgrade your SmartSuite 96 applications to the 30-day trial
          version, you must specify a different main directory and different
          product directories for the 30-day trial version. You can specify
          the directories for the 30-day trial version of SmartSuite 97 from
          the Install Program dialogue boxes. You can specify the main folder
          in the Specify Lotus SmartSuite Folder dialogue box. You can specify
          the product folders in the Select Lotus SmartSuite Applications
          dialogue box.

        - If you have previously installed a 16-bit version of SmartSuite, you
          must not have the Install Program remove obsolete files. Choose 'No'
          in the Obsolete Files dialogue box.

UNINSTALLING SMARTSUITE 97 30-DAY TRIAL VERSION:
You can uninstall the 30-day trial version of SmartSuite 97 by following these
instructions:

- Windows 95:
        - Choose Start - Settings - Control Panel from the Taskbar
        - Double-click Add/Remove programs
        - Select Lotus SmartSuite 97
        - Choose Add/Remove
        - Select the application/s to be removed
        - Click OK

VIDEO FOR WINDOWS:
This program uses Video for Windows. If you do not have the software installed on
your PC, you may install it by following these instructions:

- Windows 3.1x:
        - Close all open applications
        - Insert the CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive
        - Go to File and select Run
        - Type D:\Vfw\Setup.exe where 'D:' is your CD-ROM drive

- Windows 95:
        - Close all open applications
        - Insert the CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive
        - The program will auto-run when inserted into your CD-ROM drive
        - Press the <Esc> key to exit
        - Choose Start - Run from the Taskbar
        - Type D:\Vfw\Setup.exe where 'D:' is your CD-ROM drive

ADOBE ACROBAT:
This program uses Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0. If you do not have the software
installed on your PC, you may either install it from within the program, or
follow these instructions:

- Windows 3.1x (strongly recommended):
        - Close all open applications
        - Insert the CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive
        - Go to File and select Run
        - Type D:\Acroread\16bit\Setup.exe where 'D:' is your CD-ROM drive

- Windows 95:
        - Close all open applications
        - Insert the CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive
        - The program will auto-run when inserted into your CD-ROM drive
        - Press the <Esc> key to exit
        - Go to the Start menu and select Run
        - Type D:\Acroread\32bit\Setup.exe where 'D:' is your CD-ROM drive

LOTUS SCREENCAM 97:
This program contains Lotus ScreenCam 97 movies.  The ScreenCam viewer software
is included, but some of the ScreenCam movies are designed for playback at
higher resolution or at more than 256 colours.  If this causes problems, reset
your display to 800x600 resolution at 65,000 (16 bit) colour.

Lotus ScreenCam 97 is a Windows 95 application, and therefore the ScreenCam 97
movies will not run under Windows 3.1x.

INTERNET FUNCTIONALITY:
This program contains links to Lotus resources on the Internet. To use this
function, you must have a modem, an Internet connection and appropriate browser
software installed.
