Specify Working Directory Dialog Box

See Also Tasks

Use this dialog box to fix a situation, in this case a single item added into a directory level above the project directory, so that the source control copy of the project directory may inherit additional items and duplicate them in unexpected places.

Options

Project

Displays the current directory that the specific project was added to.

Working Directory

Displays a suggested working directory. To change the working directory entry, type the desired path or click Browse to select it.

If you change the suggested working directory, you should choose the new path carefully. The definition of the working directory and the best choice for its location depend on the source control provider you are using.

For example, if you are using Visual SourceSafe, the root working directory for a source control project should be at or above the level of all the items you intend to add to the source control project. Suppose your project contains include or header files that do not reside within or below the folder containing the project file. The related source control project should have a working directory that contains all of these items within its nested subdirectories.
