NEW REPORTING STANDARD
With the new reporting
standard, which is carried out through the TAS, Tobit has created an additional
interface that can be used to integrate 3rd-party products. By means of
this open architecture, it's possible to relay any kind of information
directly into FaxWare.áá
Under FaxWare,
this information can be evaluated or the information itself can trigger
a predefined response.áá
áá
As far as administration
is concerned, it's a big advantage that system, error, and protocol messages
can be accessed directly from the client and that it's possible to receive
an automatic notification when there's a critical problem with the system.
Each FaxWare 5 module saves its error messages and statistics in the corresponding
archives of the TAS. For example, a driver for an analog modem sends a
high-priority message reporting that a modem is defective directly to the
FaxWare system archive. The administrator will automatically receive an
E-mail on his client or an SMS message on his cellular phone, so that he
can take the necessary steps. In addition, old data can be purged automatically
by setting the archive properties, so that valuable storage space will
be released. All this maximizes the use of system resources whilst minimizing
maintenance.áá
In future, all
Tobit products will support the new reporting standard and save their system,
error, and protocol messages in corresponding archives. For example, the
SafeT product, which is used to supervise the temperature on the server,
saves the temperature data at regular intervals in a defined directory.
From here, the data is read by the FaxWare server. Therefore, it's possible
to automatically send an SMS message from FaxWare to the administrator's
cellular phone when the permissible temperature has been exceeded. The
administrator can then take any necessary action. It would also be possible
to create applications for reading, storing and tracking the bar codes
of all outgoing goods or you could receive and store regular user and departmental
billing reports direct from your telephone system. For example, if your
PBX is connected to FaxWare by means of PBXpense, a daily message can be
sent automatically to a defined directory or to a defined person by internal
E-mail. For example, this message could have a file attachment containing
Excel tables with phone cost evaluations according to total costs, extensions,
and groups.áá
You'll no longer
have to search for the corresponding data, which is often very time-consuming.
FaxWare takes care of this and all you have to do is take a look at the
data. It's an essential advantage of the reporting system that you only
need one single software package to allow you to access all the data which
is available to the company. It's a real corporate information turntable.áá
All products supporting the new reporting standard, which is based on the
TAS, have a TAS logo. When buying the product, the user therefore already
has a guarantee that the reporting standard can be used together with FaxWare
5 or David. Tobit Software discloses the TAS interface for use of the central
client/server database for any object type under FaxWare 5 and David.áá
Therefore, it's
possible to use the reporting standard of FaxWare 5 or David for any application
on the network.á |
