PRACTICAL BUSINESS CARDS
Address management.
Sounds antiquated, doesn't it? However, with FaxWare 5, this phrase is
given a whole new meaning.áá
áá
In most cases,
the classic business card book is still the best database; despite computer
databases and electronic organizers. We've studied the reasons for this
very carefully and found out how to combine the advantages of business
cards with those of a computer network. We call the result "embedded directory",
this is more than just high-performance computer address management.áá
FaxWare 5 saves
the fax numbers and all other address information such as postal address,
phone number, or E-mail address on a "virtual business card" that is saved
in files just like faxes or other messages. It is then possible to move,
copy, or save it together with other information in an archive. For example,
in addition to your normal correspondence with the supplier Miller &
Sons, you could file the "contact cards" of the relevant persons in the
same archive. This way, you have the required information ready immediately.
You simply adapt this address management tool to your working methods,
not the other way round.áá
Easy broadcastingá
How can you
create an address list for a broadcast if addresses "lie around" everywhere?
FaxWare takes care of this automatically. For example, if you wish to send
a fax to all your business partners, FaxWare 5 will automatically find
the available "business cards" in all available files and create the complete
broadcast for you. FaxWare 5 provides various import and synchronization
functions. Therefore, you don't have to re-enter data manually and addresses
will be synchronized with data in other applications.áá
Easy data
importá
Addresses are
usually saved in database programs together with other data associated
with business partners. Manual updating of address book data for several
different programs is a cumbersome task. Since consistent database standards
currently don't exist, it was necessary to create a different function
for importing and adapting data. FaxWare 5 provides a function to easily
import ASCII address files. Create a line-based text file that contains
the recipient's data. Import the data into any address archive by simply
copying the file into a FaxWare directory. By means of the TAS you can
create a clearly structured address tree which can be updated very conveniently
by drag-and-drop.áá
Data import
from static databasesá
The FWIMPORT
program is used to import data from external databases into the FaxWare
address books. It runs directly on the server and reads any static databases
with fixed data record sizes. By means of the time-controlled execution,
all addresses from a job processing application (e.g. KHK ClassicLine)
can be automatically imported into the FaxWare address books at night.
Therefore, it will no longer be necessary to update several databases manually.áá
Data import
from Windows ODBC databasesá
The DVODBC.EXE
Windows program enables you to import addresses from external databases
which support the ODBC standard. This way, you can import data from ODBC
databases (e.g. Microsoft Excel, dBase, Gupta SQL, etc.) into the FaxWare
address books. It's also possible to use the import function for other
purposes, i.e. to import accounting data, so that this data is up-to-date
on each client.áá
There's only
one positive thing about the business card book: you can take it with you
without requiring a PC. David, FaxWare's big brother, destroys this last
remaining argument in favor of the classic business card book - he reads
you your business cards over the phone.á |
