TWUNK READ ME

* What is Twunk?

Twunk - short for "Twain thunk" - is s a Twain update which
contains the latest version (V1.6.0.1) of the Twain files as
developed by the Twain Working Group.

These files are used on Windows 95 systems only. They pro-
vide an interface between a Twain software application and a
Twain source.

The Twain source - call it a "driver" if you want - for your
specific product is not included here.



* What does Twunk fix?

The Twunk software fixes the following phenomena:

1) When you attempt to acquire an image or access a Twain
scanner from any application and you receive the error mes-
sage "Unable to activate the Twain source".

2) Twain error messages when you attempt to acquire an image
from within any 32 bit, Twain compliant host application.
The 32 bit version of Readiris is a good example.



* Why do these phenomena occur?

These phenomena are related to incompatible versions of the
library TWAIN.DLL as resides in the Windows folder. This can
occur after another 32 bit Twain application is installed.

If you decide to re-install a 32-bit Twain application later
on, know that this installation may install the older Twain
files again!


* How to install?

The "Twunk" folder contains this README.TXT file and the
following 4 files:

	TWAIN.DLL          87328   12/11/95
	TWAIN_32.DLL       77312   12/11/95
	TWUNK_16.EXE       48560   12/11/95
	TWUNK_32.EXE       69632   12/11/95

If you have not restarted the computer since the last at-
tempt to scan, restart your PC now.

The quoted files must be present in the Windows folder. To
install, simply copy those files to the Windows folder.
