Borland provides a technical support serviced called the TechFAX Document Retrieval System. You can call a toll-free telephone number(800) 822-4269and order up to three technical support documents per call. The documents will appear on your fax machine shortly after you place your order. TechFAX provides a variety of technical documents for Borland C++ and other Borland products such as Delphi and Paradox.
When you call the number, a recording offers you three choices:
You can hear general information about the TechFAX service, place
an order for up to three documents, or order a catalog of documents.
You respond to the choices by pressing buttons on your telephone.
In this article, we'll describe the main elements of the
service so you'll know what to expect the first time you
call.
If you haven't used the service before, you'll need to order a catalog, which lists all available documents. To order a catalog, respond to the initial menu by pressing 3 to choose the third option. TechFAX will offer you another set of options that lets you choose a product category, then a specific product. After you select 4 for language products, press 1 to order a C++ catalog.
Next, the service will tell you the date on which Borland Technical Support updated the catalog and will then ask you to confirm that you want the current catalog. Press 1 for Yes or 2 for No. If you press N, the system will return to the previous menu.
If you press Y, the system will ask you for your fax number.
Enter your fax machine's telephone number, starting with
the area code, and then press the # button. The voice will read
back the number you entered and then ask for confirmation.
Once you receive an up-to-date catalog, you can select the documents you want to order and then call the TechFAX service again. This time, press 2 from the initial set of options to order a document. Next, enter the item number for the document you want to order, terminating with the * button. As we mentioned, you can order up to three documents per call, but if you don't want that many, press the # button to stop the list.
Next, the voice will read back the numbers you entered and ask
for your confirmation. Finally, the system will ask for your fax
number as it does when you order a catalog. After you enter your
fax numberstarting with the area code and ending with
the # buttonthe service reads the number back to you
and asks for confirmation. After you successfully place your order
and enter your fax number, the TechFAX service will fax the technical
documents you requested.
