Lotus BeanMachine Reference Guide

Preferences
You can customize basic settings for your copy of BeanMachine by selecting the Options pulldown and then Preferences. In the Preferences dialog, you can set the following:

Applets Tab
Browser or viewer: Gives the name of the AppletViewer or browser you want to use for testing applets. If you change this setting, you must enter the full path to the browser. The default is appletViewer.exe
.
Compiler: Gives the name of the Java compiler you want to use. If you change this setting, you must enter the full path to the compiler. The default is javac.exe
.

Composer Tab
Drop guide size: Sets the size of the drop guides for the Border and Flow layout styles. The default size is 40 pixels.
Live Internet Connection: This option determines whether BeanMachine should attempt to obtain any remote data from a specific URL address at edit time or not. If you have a live link to the web while you are building your applet and you are using data or media from a remote source, you should have this preference turned on
. On the other hand, if you connect to the web through a modem, it is better to leave this preference turned off.
When the preference "Live Internet Connection" is off, remote media will only be loaded when you run your applet and you have a lve connection to the server you are referencing. In turn, this means that if you do not have a live connection, any part that references remote media could be clipped or improperly sized when your applet runs. To avoid this problem, set the physical size of the part to the actual size of the media you intend to use instead of using the default preferred size. You can enter specific dimensions for any part by editing the size and position property of that part.

Help Tab
Browser: Gives the name of the browser you want to use for viewing the online documentation. If you change this setting, you must enter the full path to the browser.
