Removing a tape drive from a tape group

In the previous example, you created two new tape groups, LOCAL and REMOTE. The next step is to remove the tape drives from GROUP1 and GROUP2 so you can assign them to your new groups.

To remove a tape drive from a tape group:

  1. Make sure you have root or root equivalent privileges.

You must have logged in as root before starting SCO ARCserve/Open or have typed su to become super user before starting SCO ARCserve/Open.

  2. Click the Device Groups Configuration button.

The Device Group Configuration screen appears:

  3. Click on the drive that you want to remove from the group.

  4. Click Remove to remove the drive from the tape group.

  5. Repeat steps 2 through 4 to remove more groups.

  6. If you are finished removing tape drives from groups, click Config to exit the Device Group Configuration screen and save the new settings.

Config writes your new tape group configuration to SCO ARCserve/Open's tapesvr.cfg file and causes the Tape Server to re-start. Refer to ``Additional information about tape group configuration'' for more information about SCO ARCserve/Open's tapesvr.cfg file.
