Starting and stopping SCO ARCserve/Open
The back end starts automatically. Follow these directions to start the SCO ARCserve/Open back end if you've manually stopped it:
- Log in as the root user.
- Type astart.
The back end processes will run without requiring any attention from you until you stop them.
Follow these directions to start the SCO ARCserve/Open front end:
- Log in under your own user name (or root if you choose).
- Type arcserve.
The SCO ARCserve/Open Quick Access screen is displayed.
From here, you select the SCO ARCserve/Open operation that you want to perform.
NOTE:
There is a command line option for starting SCOARCserve/Open in a special mode that allows queue operators to perform backup jobs with root privileges. To use this option, start SCOARCserve/Open by typing the following command:
Alternatively, the root user can set/unset this option from the Job Queue Manager ``File'' menu.
Follow these directions to stop the SCO ARCserve/Open back end:
- Log in as the root user.
- Type astop.
Follow these directions to stop the SCO ARCserve/Open front end:
- Close all SCO ARCserve/Open manager windows.
- Select Exit from the Quick Access File menu.
