Auto Pilot and holidays

On occasion, you will have scheduled Auto Pilot to run jobs when no one will be around to insert the correct tape into the drive. For instance, you close the office for a holiday. On these occasions we recommend you alter your Auto Pilot set a bit to accommodate these circumstances.

Consider the following Auto Pilot set:

We recommend you change the Auto Pilot set so that you have a current full backup of the set before the scheduled closing, then shut off Auto Pilot for that day. When you return, you can revert to your standard set-up for that set.

Using the above example, follow the steps below to prepare for the holiday:

  1. In the Job Queue Manager, select the Auto Pilot set, and click Modify to change the Auto Pilot job.

  2. Click the Run button to change the Auto Pilot setup.

  3. Change the Auto Pilot set-up to accommodate the holiday.

Since the default setup for Tyler calls for weekly backups on Monday, and the office will be closed for the July 4th holiday, George changes the set so that the weekly backup is performed on Friday, and shuts off Auto Pilot on Monday:

  4. Click OK to resubmit the job.

George checks the Tape Database for the oldest weekly backup and inserts that tape into the drive.
