You must have a head cleaning tape in the very last slot of your changer. SCO ARCserve/Open always picks the tape from this slot to clean the tape drive heads.

To clean the heads in a tape drive, perform the following steps:

1. Get to the Changer Device Management window.

   See ``Accessing the Changer Device Management options'', which details the steps to get you here.

2. Select Clean Tape from the Device Management menu.

   Or, click the Tape Head Cleaning icon.

   The Clean Tape Head screen displays:

   

3. Select the desired tape device.

   If you are using a changer that has more than one tape drive, select the one you want to clean.

4. Click OK.

   SCO ARCserve/Open begins to clean the head and returns you to the Device Management window.
