Backing up with a changer

Using SCO ARCserve/Open's Backup Manager, you can schedule jobs to back up your entire network. The example below shows how you can use the SCO ARCserve/Open Changer Option to customize your backups.

Susan has just installed SCO ARCserve/Open and the Changer Option and needs to get a quick backup of her host. She wants to back up the host ADMIN.

Using the above example, follow the steps below to perform a custom backup, using the changer:

  1. Select the backup sources.

    From the Backup Manager window, select the clients you want to include.


  2. Select the backup destination.

    From the Backup Manager window, select the device group and the tape you want to back up to.


    Changer will automatically load the selected tape when the job is ready to start.

  3. Set the Destination Options (optional).

    Click the Destination button.

    The Destination Options screen displays:

    You can use this screen to assign your backup session a password, and to select tape options, such as whether to append your data to the tape or overwrite any existing data on the tape.

  4. Run the job.

    Click the Run button.
