Differential backups are performed Monday through Thursday. On Friday, a full backup is performed (the weekly backup). On the last Friday of every month, the monthly backup is performed.

Table 1 shows how Auto Pilot names and preserves tapes over a 17 week period:

• weekly backups are rotated every 5 times

• monthly backups are preserved for 12 months (one year)

• the 17th week includes the next monthly backup, scheduled for Friday, February 25, 1994, requiring a blank tape. A new magazine will have to be mounted
