Starting and using the NetWare Client Agent

The Client Agent for NetWare must be loaded on the target NetWare server before SCO ARCserve/Open can access it to perform backup, restore, and compare operations.

To manually start the Client Agent for NetWare:

You must be at a NetWare console screen to start the Client Agent.

  1. From the NetWare server console screen, enter:

    load <NWAGENT_home_dir>\nlm\nwagent -c

    For example:

    load sys:nwagent\nlm\nwagent -c

The -c option enables the Configurations option on the screen, displayed below:

You can choose from the options listed below.

The Real-Time Statistics screen

The Real-Time Statistics screen allows you to view a job in progress in real-time. Using this screen, you can quickly determine what file is being processed.

To view detailed information about the active job, press <Enter>. A screen with detailed information about the job appears:

The Activity Log

While the Real-Time Statistics screen displays the status of the job currently in progress, the Activity Log gives you detailed information about a job. Information logged here includes: job type (backup, restore, or compare), job source and destination, and the current status of the job.

The Configurations screen

The Configurations screen allows you to customize a job by providing the ability to preserve log file information, exclude files larger than 2GB from being processed, turn activity logging on or off, turn SMS logic for DOS and MAC files on or off, and open up a Client Agent screen if an alert condition occurs, such as connection failure.

The Unload and Exit screen

This screen allows you to unload the Client Agent for NetWare.
