The upgrade process entails saving configuration files and other important data (such as user names and associated passwords and groups) to media, from which they can be restored and modified to work on the UnixWare 7 system.
For some data, such as password files and Domain Name Service (DNS) files, the files will work as they did on your old operating system. Other data, such as MMDF mail configurations and SCO OpenServer printer configuration scripts, will not work on the UnixWare 7 system and must be re-written.
