The new version will delete (after prompting you !) your existing database files. Note : This does not affect saved data files (.rdf files) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Version 1.73 * Fixed bug relating to internationalisation issues. Version 1.72 (32-bit only) * Fixed ANOTHER installer bug that caused an Unexpected Error when running RemoveR. if you have experienced this see my homepage for more details (http://homepages.enterprise.net/dodgy/rmvrbugwatch.shtml) * Changed some of the French Translations (thanks again Gérard !) Version 1.71 (32-bit only) * Fixed an installer bug that caused an Unexpected Error when running RemoveR. if you have experienced this see my homepage for more details (http://homepages.enterprise.net/dodgy/rmvrbugwatch.shtml) Version 1.7 * Added support for Spanish & French - Huge thanks to Eric Feingold, Darwin Montie, Gérard Flamant & Michel Guillemette. * Really made the 'scan drive' button the default one ! * The 16 bit version of RemoveR now finds hidden files - however it will not find files in hidden directories (hidden or not) * The 32 bit version of RemoveR will find all hidden files and directories. This uses code specific to 32-Bit Windows, and it is unlikely that the 16-Bit version will ever have this capability * You can now specify a default directory to save your .rdf files to and load them from * Extra information now supplied when you try and delete a directory which isn't empty. * No longer finds RemoveR record files - thus stops people deleting them by accident. * I changed the format of database files -- see important message above. * A couple of bugs were fixed including the elusive Error 360 ! * Changed my installer to Installshield. This should create less problems for people, and also provides an uninstall feature on Windows 3.1x systems. * (32 Bit ONLY) Last, and probably most impressive - the scanning speed is around three times faster than it was before, and the code is in place for future versions to scan for changed files as well as added/deleted files. This will probably appear in version 1.8 Version 1.67 * Mainly released to fix a corrupt install routine I posted on Simtel * Made the 'scan drive' button on the main form the default button (now you can just bang space) * Fixed a couple of spelling mistakes Version 1.66 * Results screen list now allows you to select multiple files by holding down shift and dragging selections/ctrl-clicking etc. * (32-Bit Only) Deleted files are now deleted to the recycle bin instead of being wiped from your drive. * Changed file handling code for added stability when running with other applications. * New icon ! * Progress bar on results scan - easier to see how much more to go. * Re-wrote the readme files. Maybe people will read them now :-) Version 1.65 * Speeded up compare routines. You should see major improvements when finding changes - especially when there have been a large number. I've been experiencing a speed increase of over 982 times (!). * Now gives you a percentage complete readout when finding changes. * Warns you before you delete the scan file when clicking 'scan only windows directory' on the preferences screen. * On the search results page the 'save for future removal' button now only saves the files which are SELECTED (ignoring the deleted files of course). * A few other minor enhancements ... Version 1.61 * Small, but fatal, bug fix regarding true-colour screens and the startup bitmaps. Version 1.6 * More aesthetically pleasing screens * Fixed a bug with the ignore list that caused it not to function under certain circumstances * Solved the problem of people experiencing colour-changing of their windows setups. The bitmaps used in RemoveR are optimised for 1000's of colours but shouldn't now look that bad under 256 or 16. * Added a registration screen to personalise RemoveR * Added the preference to only scan the Windows directory and sub-directories (as RemoveR used to be in Version 1.3). * Slightly speeded up finding changes. * Fixed a bug with the uninstall using saved data file routine. Version 1.52 * Fixed a bug made visible in v1.5/1 Now that I am scanning the whole of a drive there is a lot more files scanned. The location where I store the files was becoming full resulting in out of memory errors (more frequently in Windows 3.x). Sadly it wasn't a simple job of increasing a number somewhere, it was much much more complex. I have incorporated some changes and RemoveR will now function with up to 12,000 files on any one drive. I can increase this if anyone has the need ... * Updated the splash screen to replect the new version number. (Forgot to do it for 1.51 !!!) Version 1.51 * Fixed a fantastically serious bug that meant Remover wouldn't run on and volume with a volume label, and it never freed any resources, and hence ran out of memory on almost every PC (apart from mine!). Hopefully this solves both problems. RemoveR 1.5 was never distributed to winsite and was only on my web site for a day, so it is really unlikely you actually ever got it ! Version 1.5 * I was getting in a serious mess with my version numbering. This version is 1.5 - the previous version was 1.3 or 1.03, depending on where you looked! * Huge changes .... I implemented a new search routine that I cooked up one night - turns out its 400% faster than the old one. As a result of this I have added the most-requested-functionality, that of being able to search the whole of your drive(s). * As I added the ability to search your whole drive I thought i'd better add the functionality of setting directories for RemoveR to ignore. This, out of interest, was the second-most-requested change ever. * Added a remover.ini file to the windows directory to store your ignore list. * Forms now centered on the screen, should be able to see all of them with all resolutions now ! * Spelling mistake fixed :-) * Added splash screen & more fancy about screen. * Now detects directories that have been added, as well as files * If you are a registered user I made your name appear more often in the lower bar, it all too frequently seemed to disappear. * To try to help users who have downloaded previous versions of RemoveR I will try to post the updated EXE file on my web site for download, thus saving you downloading the install utility again * Jazzed up text file Version 1.3 * A bug was fixed that only occured in exceptional circumstances. * This version is out earlier then I wanted, and as such has a lot of features I was hoping to include missing. This will be rectifed in v1.4. I was forced to upload this as Winsite had somehow corrupted the rmvr32.zip file. Sorry it took me so long to fix but British Telecom has taken 2 weeks to fix my telephone - on the upside they did pay me over 120UKP compensation :-) Version 1.2 * Included the runtime files. My mailbox was exploding with people wanting these !! This makes the distributable larger, so sorry to all those who had these files... this is for the benefit of those who haven't. * Now shipped as a separate 16 Bit and 32 Bit application. The 32-Bit version is Long Filename Aware, the 16 Bit version isn't. * Changed my email address & web address. Version 1.1 * Added the ability to save the search result, to enable uninstalling at a future date. To do this just click 'Save Search' when you have performed a scan. This data is saved into a file, and the program can be uninstalled at a later date. To uninstall a saved file, just click the button on the main screen. Version 1.0 * First Release.
