Designed for Windows 95 and Windows NT Workstation (Version 4), it extends the boundaries of traditional terminal emulation by providing innovative facilities to integrate web technologies into your existing UNIX applications, without requiring redevelopment. MultiView 2000 allows you to: - Display your UNIX applications using the best terminal emulation. - Enhance your existing UNIX applications without redevelopment. - Integrate Web applications and documents into existing UNIX applications. - Define how your UNIX applications interact with Windows applications. - Share information between remote and PC applications using OLE2 and DDE technology. - Simplify access to local and remote information via an intuitive user interface. - Integrate your local or remote file and printing resources. If your destination is UNIX, MultiView 2000 is the only 32-bit launch pad you'll require. SECTION 2 - LICENCE INFORMATION If you have purchased MultiView 2000, a serial number will have been supplied with the product. You are restricted by the license to only install the MultiView 2000 software on one PC for each license you have purchased. If you are evaluating the software, you may install on as many PCs as you wish. The evaluation period will expire 30 days after installation. This product is under exciting new development. SECTION 3 - INSTALLATION ISSUES 3.1 Upgrading Previous Versions of MultiView 2000 3.2 Upgrading Active Rules 3.3 Removing MultiView 2000 3.1 Upgrading Previous Versions of MultiView 2000 All previous version of MultiView 2000 can be safely upgraded. With the following exceptions. - LPR Printer Ports If you are upgrading from MultiView 2000 v 1, and you also have a version of MultiView DeskTop installed, you may find your existing LPR Ports no longer work. To resolve the problem please re-install your ports following the On-line documentation. 3.2 Upgrading Active Rules In this version of MultiView 2000, the Rules Agent has been enhanced to include other types of Active Rules. Consequently, your previous system wide Active URL's will be upgraded. After setup has restarted your system following an upgrade you will be asked to either convert the detected rules from the registry, create a new set of system wide rules or leave the upgrade until a later date. For further information please see the pin-point help within the upgrade dialog. 3.3 Removing MultiView 2000 You can remove MultiView 2000 by selecting Add/Remove from the Windows Control Panel. SECTION 4 - NEW AT THIS RELEASE 4.1 Alternative Line Drawing sets 4.2 Enhanced Attribute Mapping Effects 4.3 Patterned Border 4.4 Browser Embeddable 4.5 Advanced Active Rules 4.6 Brightness & Contrast Controls 4.7 Selection of any TrueType Font 4.8 Kermit Serial Transfer 4.9 Ansi Keyboard Lock 4.10 ISO Latin I and II 4.11 Interface option to disable LPD autoformat detection 4.1 Alternative Line Drawing sets Version 3 now includes alternative line drawing sets, to improve the visual impact of character menus and to extend line drawing functionality to fonts without line drawing characters. 4.2 Enhanced Attribute Mapping Effects The ability to define character attributes such as bold, reverse and underline, has been dramatically improved. Each attribute including colors can now be given a wide range of effects and styles, these include, three-dimensional fonts, Windows-like buttons and edit fields, colored background, etc. 4.3 Patterned Border Any bitmap image (.bmp) can be selected for use around the TE window. 4.4 Browser Embeddable using ActiveX Using ActiveX technology, the MultiView 2000 terminal emulator and FTP applications can easily be embedded into Microsoft’s Internet Explorer or any other ActiveX document container. 4.5 Advanced Active Rules Keywords, such as URL (http, ftp, gopher,), application links (doc, xls,) can be set up as hot spots that will launch a web browser or other application. Active Rules have been extended to allow key sequences to be sent to the UNIX host and to execute remote applications at the click of a button. Similarly, with the same technology, input fields and any other logical function areas in the UNIX application can be defined as a live hot spot with visual effects. 4.6 Brightness & Contrast Controls New interactive color intensity sliders give the ability to customize the overall brightness of colors and fine-tune relative contrast between bold and dim variants. 4.7 Selection of any TrueType Font A terminal session can now be configured to use any TrueType font installed on the Windows PC. You may also select different styles of a particular font, Bold, Italic etc. 4.8 Kermit Serial Transfer To allow serial file transfer the popular Kermit protocol has been added in the 2000 TE. 4.9 Ansi Keyboard Lock The codes CSI2h and CSI2l have been included in the SCO Ansi emulation to give the ability to lock and unlock the keyboard. 4.10 ISO Latin I and II The ISO Latin I and II code pages have been implemented for use with the DEC VT220/VT320 and SCO Ansi emulation’s. SECTION 5 - PROBLEMS FIXED AT THIS RELEASE 5.1 VT220 F12 wasn't defined by default 5.2 TE Wizard didn't default to protocol selected during installation 5.3 FTP Time-out increased from 2 to 5 seconds 5.4 VT320 Shift/F6 to Shift/F10 on US Keyboard 5.5 Telnet packet received size different than expected 5.6 CSInE and CSInF implemented for DEV VT's 5.7 VT220 T/E the extended keypad mappings 5.8 Windows NT4 didn't remember where the last saved ZZ files were made 5.9 Saving a ZZT with a maximized TE 5.10 Wyse60 TE and Shift/Ctrl/F4 and Shift/Ctrl/F7 5.11 All Modem types now recognized 5.12 Default Wyse60 cursor keys were incorrect 5.13 Selecting Cursor up on VT320 caused background menu color to be cleared 5.14 VT220/320 in graphics mode did not allow keyboard input 5.15 VT320 status bar color 5.16 ESC preceding ESC sequence 5.17 NVT2 now supported on Windows NTW4 5.1 VT220 F12 wasn't defined by default F12 on the DEC VT220 keyboard was not defined by default. The key now sends the correct sequence, CSI24~. 5.2 TE Wizard didn't default to protocol selected during installation During setup you are asked for your preferred protocol, this was not picked up by the TE Wizard. 5.3 FTP Time-out increased from 2 to 5 seconds If a connection to a remote site was slow, FTP would time out after 2 seconds, this has now been increased to 5 seconds. 5.4 VT320 Shift/F6 to Shift/F10 on US Keyboard Using a US keyboard, the map definition box was empty for Shift/F6 through to Shift/F10, although the view/list mappings showed the correct defaults. 5.5 Telnet packet receive size different than expected It is possible to configure your UNIX system to use different packet sizes for the Telnet protocol, 2000 wasn't handling this. 5.6 CSInE and CSInF implemented for DEV VT's CSInE and CSInF have been implemented for the DEC te's. indicates the number of lines down you wish to move the cursor from its current location. 5.7 VT220 T/E the extended keypad mappings Some of the extended keypad keys weren't sending the correct VT220 sequences. 5.8 Windows NT4 didn't remember where the last saved ZZ files were made Windows NT4W now remembers the last location ZZ files were saved to. 5.9 Saving a ZZT with a maximized TE ZZT's now correctly restores a maximized TE if they have been saved as such. 5.10 Wyse60 TE and Shift/Ctrl/F4 and Shift/Ctrl/F7 Shift/Ctrl/F4 and Shift/Ctrl/F7 now send the correct Wyse60 sequences. \0223 & \0226 respectively. 5.11 All Modem types now recognized There was a problem introduced at version 2.2.6, whereby some modem types were not picked up by MultiView 2000. The error message given stated, "There are no suitable modem devices installed on this computer." 5.12 Default Wyse60 cursor keys were incorrect The default cursor key sequences for the Wyse60 were set incorrectly. 5.13 Selecting Cursor up on VT320 caused background menu color to be cleared Selecting cursor up on a colored background menu caused the background menu color to be cleared. 5.14 VT220/320 in graphics mode did not allow keyboard input If DEC VT220 or VT320 was placed into graphics mode, the MultiView 2000 TE wouldn't accept any keyboard input. 5.15 VT320 status bar color Switching from the main window to the status line when a background color was in use caused the status line to inherit the main windows background color. 5.16 ESC preceding ESC sequence If an ESC was received before an ESC sequence, 2000 would discard the two ESC's and output the rest of the sequence to the screen. 5.17 NVT2 now supported on Windows NTW4 The NVT2 protocol is now supported on Windows NTW4. SECTION 6 - KNOWN PROBLEMS AT THIS RELEASE 6.1 File Transfer and VAX systems 6.2 File Transfer and /dev special files 6.3 Attempting to connect to a machine that isn't available 6.3 Multiple DDE links 6.5 Configuring Active Rules while embedded 6.6 "User Level" while embedded 6.7 Contrast Slider not available while embedded 6.1 File Transfer and VAX systems VAX systems are not supported by File Transfer at this release. 6.2 File Transfer and /dev special files The special files such as /dev/tty1a located in /dev on a remote system will not be displayed by File Transfer. 6.3 Attempting to connect to a machine that isn't available If a connection is attempted to a system that isn't available, both FTP and the TE will take up to 1 minute to report that the system can not be located. 6.4 Multiple DDE links Multiple DDE links to the same application are not supported at this release. 6.5 Configuring Active Rules while embedded Active rules can not be configured while the 2000 TE is embedded. 6.6 "User Level" while embedded If the "User Level" registry settting is set, it will be ignored by TE's that are embedded. 6.7 Contrast Slider not available while embedded The Contrast Slider toolbar is not available while embedded. SECTION 7 - THE KIOSK The Kiosk is no longer installed as part of the MultiView 2000 setup. However it can be installed as a separate product from the MultiView Family CD. For issue's concerning The Kiosk please refer to KIOSK.TXT located in the Kiosk directory on the MultiView Family CD.
