Learn the difference between the Investments area and Microsoft Investor
Tip: For easier reading, click (above).
The Investments area in Money is a place for you to track your portfolio. Money treats investments as one part of your overall financial situation along with your other accounts. It is completely private and the information is stored on your computer. Microsoft Investor is a Web site on the Internet that offers current investment information. You can check stock quotes, read current articles about investing and company news, track investments in a portfolio, and look at historical market data.
You can link investment accounts you've entered in Money with Microsoft Investor to track your investments from more of a market perspective, and you'll only have to enter your information once.
Is the Money Investment Portfolio the same thing as the Portfolio Manager in Investor?
No. You can link individual Money investment accounts to Investor if you choose. When your investment accounts are linked, you can view them from within Investor รน any changes you make to a Money account are reflected in the Investor Portfolio Manager's view of your portfolio. Once you've linked your accounts, Investor walks you through anything you need to do to keep the data synchronized in both programs. Remember that if you create new Investment or "watch" accounts in Investor, you won't see those in Money.
When you connect to Microsoft Investor, you are using the Internet and will be billed by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for your connection time depending on your service agreement. Be sure to close your Web browser when you are finished using Investor.
