Change the current value of a house

If you remodel your home or have it reappraised, be sure to update its value in Money.

1 Go to Homes & Assets.

1 On the navigation bar (The strip at the top of the Money screen where you can click to go to the different areas in Money.), click Planner.

2 Click Lifetime Planner.

3 In the left pane, click Homes & Assets.

2 Select a house from the list.

3 Click Edit, and then click Value.

4 Follow the instructions on the screen, and then click Finish.

What if I don't know what my house is worth?

Get information from your local real-estate agent, chamber of commerce, or Microsoft HomeAdvisorÖ to determine the price of recent sales of comparable properties. If the condition, size or location of the house is unique and you canÆt assess its value, consider hiring an appraiser.

What if I remodel my home?

Some of your expenses may be tax-deductible if they constitute genuine improvements to the property (not routine maintenance and repair). Be sure to keep all your receipts and use them to increase the cost basis and current value of your house.
