Enter infrequent income into the budget

If you're paid on commission or don't have a regular source of income (because you're self-employed or work hourly), you can still use Money to budget. Here's how to enter your infrequent income into Money's budget:

If you have some guaranteed monthly income (a base salary, for instance, or a seasonal job):

1 Go to the Income place (in Budget Planner).

How?

1 On the navigation bar (The strip at the top of the Money screen where you can click to go to the different areas in Money.), click Planner.

2 Click Budget Planner.

3 In the left pane, click Income.

2 Click the appropriate category or subcategory line in the table. Or, click Add Category to add a new category and/or subcategory.

3 Click Additional Income.

4 Enter income as follows:

If you receive a base monthly income, click Monthly/Occasional and enter the amount in the Every month box.
If you expect to receive any additional lump-sum amount over the course of the year, Monthly/Occasional and enter the amount in the Occasional box.
If you receive set income in certain one or more calendar months, click Custom and enter an amount in the box for each month that applies.

The amounts you enter will update the amounts shown in the table.

If you don't have any guaranteed income (because you're self-employed, for instance):

1 Go to the Income place (in Budget Planner).

How?

2 Click Budget Planner.

3 In the left pane, click Income.

2 Click the appropriate category or subcategory line in the table.

3 Estimate your average monthly income click Additional Income and then enter it in the Every month box.

The amounts you enter will update the amounts shown in the table's Monthly column.
