Export an account
Tip: For easier reading, click
(above).
Use these instructions to export account information so that you can use it in another software program. You can export accounts from all of your Money files this way.
1 On the File menu, click Export.
2 Choose a format for your exported account:
- Loose QIF means that the full names of Money categories and other names will be exported, and classifications 1 and 2 will be exported. Applications other than Money may not be able to read this format.
- Strict QIF means that only the first 15 characters of category names and other names will be exported, and only classification 1 will be exported. This format is compatible with all applications that read QIF files.
3 In the Export box, choose the directory and drive where you want to export the file. Then in the File name box, type a name for the file using a .qif extension and then click OK.
ItÆs a good idea to name each exported file for its corresponding account in your Money file ("Household Checking.qif" for instance).
4 Choose the type of account you want to export and then click OK.
You may only export a single account from your Money file at a time.
5 In the Select Export Account box, highlight the account you want to export.
Money will display a message when the export is complete.
Important
- When you export an account, some information is not included, such as abbreviations, comments, and Financial Suite Lifetime Planner information.
- For information on how to import a QIF file into other programs, consult that program's instructions.
