You can change the style and layout of Web pages by supplementing the original style with your own.
Opera has a powerful feature that allows zooming of entire Web pages. If you want a standard zoom other than the default 100%, you can select a new level from the drop-down menu.
Tip: When surfing, use the "100%" drop-down menu on Opera's Address bar to set a new zoom level if you find that the content of a Web page does not render well on your screen.
By default, Opera is set to display the content of new pages as specified in "Author mode" (see below). If "Author mode" is not selected as default, new pages will be displayed in "User mode".
If you disable frames, only the main (biggest) frame in Web pages will be displayed.
If you disable in-line frames, alternative text will be displayed in place of in-line frames.
To see how Web pages with frames are constructed, enable frame borders. When you view framed pages, the currently active frame will always be outlined.
Tip: Right-click a frame and select for multiple choices.
"Author mode" lets you see a Web page as its author intended, while "User mode" lets you view the page in your own style.
Each mode contains a set of preferences. Switch between the two sets by clicking the style button on the Address bar, or press Ctrl + G. You can also select
from the menu.Normally, most people will want to change the "User mode" settings, but you can also change the settings for "Author mode":
Option | Explanation |
---|---|
Page CSS | Always apply style sheets specified in Web pages |
Page font and color | Use fonts and colors set by markup language |
My style sheet | Activate the list of built-in user style sheets, and apply your personal style sheet (if specified) |
My fonts and color | Use your fonts and colors (specified in Fonts preferences) |
My link style | Use your link style (specified in Fonts preferences) |
Tip: Opera's built-in user style sheets can be used to improve readability, debug markup, or drastically change the appearance of Web pages.
Click to select and add a personal style sheet. Note that, unlike the built-in user style sheets, this style sheet will not be listed on the Style menu.
