Installing the Web Application Stress Tool

The Web Application Stress Tool is not installed by the Windows 2000 Resource Kit setup program. To install it, use the following procedure:

To install the Web Application Stress Tool

  1. Insert the Windows 2000 Resource Kit companion CD into your CD drive.
  2. When the Setup screen appears, click Explore the CD.
  3. In the <cdroot>\apps\webstress directory, double-click Setup.exe.
  4. Follow the directions that appear on your screen.
  5. Repeat the above procedure for each computer that you would like to use as a stress client.

To start the Web Application Stress Tool

  1. Click Start.
  2. Point to Programs.
  3. Point to Microsoft Web Application Stress Tool, and then click Microsoft Web Application Stress Tool.

To use the Web Application Stress Tool, you must be running Microsoft® Windows® 2000 or Microsoft® Windows NT® version 4.0 SP4.
