You can add an application or program (a file ending in the .exe extension), a text or document file (for example, .txt or .doc), or a shortcut to a URL to the Quick Tray menu. Items are added to the Quick Tray menu by means of the Quick Tray dialog box.
To open the Quick Tray dialog box, start Quick Tray, and then click the Quick Tray icon in the status area.
To add an application, program, or document file to the Quick Tray menu, click the file in Windows Explorer and drag it into the Application window in the Quick Tray dialog box.
To add a link to a URL to the Quick Tray menu, first create a shortcut to the URL on your desktop, and then drag the shortcut into the Application window of the Quick Tray dialog box.
To remove an item from the Quick Tray menu, select its icon in the Quick Tray dialog box, and then click Remove.
To close the Quick Tray dialog box without exiting the program, click Close. This closes the Quick Tray dialog box, leaving the Quick Tray icon in the status area.
To exit Quick Tray and remove the Quick Tray icon from the status area, click the Quick Tray icon, and then click Exit in the Quick Tray dialog box.
Note
If you choose to add a file other than an .exe file to the Quick Tray menu, Windows 2000 should have a registered association for that file type. For instance, a .txt file could be associated with Notepad or another text editor. For more information about creating file associations, see the topic on Associate.exe in this Help file.
