Exploration Air
Installing Exploration Air 5.0
To take advantage of all of the features of Exploration Air 5.0, the following Windows 2000 components must be installed:
- Indexing Services
- Certificate Services
For information on installing these services, see the Windows 2000 product documentation.
To install the Exploration Air 5.0 sample site
Note
Note that you must log on as a member of the Administrator group to install Exploration Air.

Start Windows 2000.

Insert the Windows 2000 Resource Kit companion CD into your CD-ROM drive.

When the setup screen appears, click Explore the CD.

In the \apps\explorationair directory, double-click the ExAir5-Desktop-x86.msi file.
- Follow the instructions that appear on your screen.
Note
By default, the Exploration Air files are installed in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft\ExxAir5 directory of your hard disk.
To configure and start Exploration Air 5.0

Once the Exploration Air 5.0 sample site is installed, the COM+ components must be configured. To do this, click Start, point to Programs, point to Exploration Air 5.0 Sample Site, and then click Install ExAir5 COM+ Component. Next, click Install Benefit5 COM+ Component, and lastly, click Install ProdInfo5 COM+ Component.

After installation, you can start using Exploration Air with the Exploration Air 5.0 Sample Site submenu of the Start menu. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Exploration Air 5.0 Sample Site, and then click Exploration Air 5.0.
Notes
- To provide an upgrade path for enhanced performance, scalability, and reliability, the Exploration Air 5.0 sample site can be "upsized" by the user to support the use of Microsoft® SQL Server™ 6.5 or 7.0 as a server-based database provider instead of Microsoft® Access 97, which is provided as the default database. For more information on implementing this feature, see the Exploration Air 5.0 Sample Site Release Notes, which can be accessed through the Exploration Air 5.0 Sample Site submenu of the Start menu after installation.

In order to provide the most secure e-commerce environment possible, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and X.509 Client Certificate authentication are available as user configurable options to "secure" the Frequent Flyer Club application that ships as part of the Exploration Air 5.0 sample site. However, in order to use these features, several configuration changes to your IIS configuration are necessary in order to enable encryption and/or certificate authentication. For more information, see the Exploration Air 5.0 Sample Site Release Notes, which can be accessed through the Exploration Air 5.0 Sample Site submenu of the Start menu after installation.
