Say you have a typical computer with a hard drive (C:), a CD-ROM drive (D:), and a floppy disk drive (A:). The system is known as "LocalSys" on the network.
After installing the Terminal Server client and the Drive Map tool, you connect to a Terminal Server, which is also running the Drive Map tool.
After opening My Computer in the Terminal Server Session you would see A:, C: and D: refer to the floppy drive, hard drive volume, and CD-ROM drive on the Terminal Server. X:, Y:, and Z: are the mapped drives. These mappings allow the user to interact directly with the CD-ROM drive, the hard drive and the floppy drive on his local computer.
