Activeperl.exe: Active Perl

Perl is a flexible scripting language widely used for system administration on both UNIX and Windows platforms, as well as programming on the World Wide Web. ActivePerl is a Windows implementation of Perl which also enables you to work with the registry and event logs, and can act as an OLE automation controller.

ActivePerl also includes:

• Perl: Binary of core Perl distribution.
• Perl for ISAPI: Plug-in for running Perl CGI's and scripts faster on ISAPI compliant Web servers such as IIS.
• PerlScript: Microsoft® ActiveX® scripting engine, like JavaScript or VBScript. Can be used within any ActiveX Script Host such as Microsoft® Exchange Server, Microsoft® Internet Explorer, and the Windows Script Host.
• Perl Package Manager (PPM): Perl extension installer and manager. Makes it easy for Win32 developers to manage the many modules and extensions available for Perl.

Files Required

The files required for ActivePerl are located on your Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Resource Kit companion CD.

To use this tool, you must install it. The installation file (on the Windows 2000 Resource Kit companion CD) is: /apps/perl/ActivePerl.exe.
