If WINS still does not start after restoring the database, the database and log files will have to be deleted and a fresh copy of the database installed.
To install a fresh copy of the database: 1) Delete all the files in the Systemroot\system32\wins folder. Note: If the WINS database file (typically named wins.mdb) is not in the above folder, check the registry for the full file path. 2) Delete the .mdb file. 3) Delete all log files. Note: If the jet*.log files are not in the above folder, check the registry for the folder path. 4) At the Command Prompt, type net start wins, and then press Enter.
