Error Message:

The password chosen is too short. It is padded with zeros to the domain's minimum password length.

Explanation:

When configuring the Migration Tool for NetWare Server, all passwords must have a minimum length of 6 characters and a maximum length of 14 characters. Any password less than 6 characters will be padded with zeros.

User Action:

If you are configuring a NetWare server to be migrated to a Windows 2000 domain using the Migration Tool for Netware Servers, click the Password tab from the User and Group Options dialog box. Select one of the 3 options for setting password requirements: 1. Select No Password. The accounts will be set up without a password for all users. 2. Password is User Name. The accounts will be set up with the password set as user name. 3. Password is. Assign the same password to all user accounts. The NetWare default is 5 characters; the Windows 2000 Server default is 6. If you use any of these options, click the User Must Change Password check box. This prompts the user to change their password the first time they log on to the Windows 2000 domain. If you are using the Net User or Chgpass command to change only one password for a user account, then reenter the command and use at a minimum of 6 characters for the new password.
